Carol Ohmart stars with Mamie Van Doren in BORN RECKLESS (1958)

Image
BORN RECKLESS can be rented on PRIME VIDEO. Here is the link:  BORN RECKLESS with Carol Ohmart and Mamie Van Doren The plot of the movie is as follows on IMDb " Rider Kelly Cobb travels to county rodeos to win money so he can buy a patch of land he wants to call his own. He rescues trick rider Jackie Adams from the clutches of an amorous sports writer after her saloon song, and they travel together. Jackie begins falling in love with Kelly, but he doesn't seem to notice as he continues to risk life and limb for his dream, occasionally being tempted by floozies. Jackie hopes to convince a man that was born reckless to change his roaming ways. " Movie has a terrible rating of 4.7 out of 10. It is probably much better then the crap made today. Here is a promotional photo of the film with Carol as a rich rodeo floozy named Liz.  Needless to say Mamie Van Doren's character beats the crap out of Liz to win her man. Not one of Carol's better films.

Carol Ohmart in the film THE SCAVENGERS

Image
Carol Ohmart and Vince Edwards starred in the film THE SCAVENGERS. The synopsis is at this link:  The Scavengers  Carol plays a very depressing character addicted to narcotics who no longer cares for anybody or anyone but drugs. Vince Edwards is fascinating in this one. He plays a reformed smuggler who wants to save his wife from her demons but can't manage it. Since this was written by Eddie Romero (BEAST OF BLOOD movie trilogy) and TERROR IS A MAN. I enjoyed how as a Filipino he incorporated martial arts to the Filipino Detective character played by Vic Diaz who uses the martial arts to beat up the Vince Edwards character in the film. Very low budget but it has a unique history to this one. Although not perfect, I liked it. Here is the link on youtube to the movie  The Scavengers

Carol Ohmart in the film ONE MAN'S WAY

Image
Carol Ohmart played Evelyn Grace in the biopic about Norman Vincent Peale. Don Murray played the role of Norman Vincent Peale who was a Protestant Clergyman who wrote the book, THE POWER OF POSITIVE THINKING. You can watch the movie on Youtube but you have to pay for it. Here is the link  One Man's Way  Anyhow I don't think it was a huge boxoffice hit but it is part of Carol Ohmarts history.

Carol Ohmart interviews chronicle tough life with abusive Mormon mother who tried to control her life.

Image
Carol Ohmart has a tough life growing up as a child. Her parents were divorced when she was very young and her mom had an abusive and controlling personality which affected her 3 marriages. I mean Carol had her first husband picked for her by her mother. The 2nd husband could not stand his mother in law and stated Carol's film career was sabotaged by the actions of her mother. Her 3rd husband had Carol and her mom essentially vying for the affections of the same man. Sounds so damn crazy. These two articles are priceless. I wish I could get hold of the treasure trove of voice recordings and writings of Carol Ohmart mentioned in the two articles so I could write a book on her, or try this link  https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1989-01-08-ca-255-story.html  and this link https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1989-01-01-ca-225-story.html  I wish someone would do a Carol Ohmart Biographical Motion Picture. I would cast Dominique McElligott  who has a simila...

Carol Ohmart in a classic horror film comedy Quentin Tarantino got restored and put on Blu-Ray

Image
Carol Ohmart asked the director and writer Jack Hill, "Do you think we can win an Academy Award with this?" Not sure if she asked that tongue in cheek or if she was being serious but it has become a cult classic which Quentin Tarantino went to bat to get the film restored and put on Blu-Ray. The film is about a caretaker named Bruno (Lon Chaney Jr. who is trying to raise three demented and murderous siblings played by Sid Haig (Judge in JACKIE BROWN) as Ralph, Beverly Washburn (one time fiancee of Marlon Brando until tragic car accident/death)as Elizabeth, and Jill Banner (Star Trek) as Virginia who as they grow older become more child like and become cannibals. Problems arise when the relatives discover that the siblings parents are dead and now they have been called in to meet at the house and what to with it and the children. Carol Ohmart plays greedy and ruthless Aunt Emily who is just seeking money but in one of the funniest threads of the movie falls in love with Ralph....

Carol Ohmart in HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL (1959)

Image
This film was Carol Ohmart's first big box office hit. It was a William Castle film featuring Vincent Price as Frederick Loren and Carol Ohmart as Annabelle Loren, an unhappily married couple who invite 5 strangers to stay the night with them in a rented haunted mansion. If the 5 guests stay the whole night they get $10,000.00 and if they don't they get nothing.   The guests are made up of Richard Long as Lance Schroeder, Alan Marshall as Dr. David Trent, Carolyn Craig as annoying and constantly screaming Nora Manning, Elisha Cook Jr. as Watson Pritchard, and Julie Mitchum as Ruth Bridges. There is an extremely hideous and scary Butler and Maid played by Howard Hoffman as Jonas and Leona Anderson as the maid Mrs. Slydes. The movie is not very scary but yet it is entertaining for the mystery of the story, the location of the shoot which was Frank Lloyd Wright ENNIS HOUSE which was also used in the film BLADE RUNNER and many more.  The whole cast did a good job and Carol Ohmart ...
