Carol Ohmart in a classic horror film comedy Quentin Tarantino got restored and put on Blu-Ray

Image
Carol Ohmart asked the director and writer Jack Hill, "Do you think we can win an Academy Award with this?" Not sure if she asked that tongue in cheek or if she was being serious but it has become a cult classic which Quentin Tarantino went to bat to get the film restored and put on Blu-Ray. The film is about a caretaker named Bruno (Lon Chaney Jr. who is trying to raise three demented and murderous siblings played by Sid Haig (Judge in JACKIE BROWN) as Ralph, Beverly Washburn (one time fiancee of Marlon Brando until tragic car accident/death)as Elizabeth, and Jill Banner (Star Trek) as Virginia who as they grow older become more child like and become cannibals. Problems arise when the relatives discover that the siblings parents are dead and now they have been called in to meet at the house and what to with it and the children. Carol Ohmart plays greedy and ruthless Aunt Emily who is just seeking money but in one of the funniest threads of the movie falls in love with Ralph....

Carol Ohmart in HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL (1959)

This film was Carol Ohmart's first big box office hit. It was a William Castle film featuring Vincent Price as Frederick Loren and Carol Ohmart as Annabelle Loren, an unhappily married couple who invite 5 strangers to stay the night with them in a rented haunted mansion. If the 5 guests stay the whole night they get $10,000.00 and if they don't they get nothing.   The guests are made up of Richard Long as Lance Schroeder, Alan Marshall as Dr. David Trent, Carolyn Craig as annoying and constantly screaming Nora Manning, Elisha Cook Jr. as Watson Pritchard, and Julie Mitchum as Ruth Bridges. There is an extremely hideous and scary Butler and Maid played by Howard Hoffman as Jonas and Leona Anderson as the maid Mrs. Slydes. The movie is not very scary but yet it is entertaining for the mystery of the story, the location of the shoot which was Frank Lloyd Wright ENNIS HOUSE which was also used in the film BLADE RUNNER and many more.  The whole cast did a good job and Carol Ohmart ...

Carol Ohmart in the 1960 film WILD YOUTH also called NAKED YOUTH

Image
Carol Ohmart did a film called WILD YOUTH and also known as NAKED YOUTH. Carol plays the character of Madge who is a heroin addict. In the film they nicknamed the drug "Horse" which must be before my time. Her boyfriend Revas played by John Goddard is her dealer as well. Revas steals some horse from a Mexican dealer at a bullfighting stadium and he and Madge flee Mexico across the border into the states. The drugs are stored in a doll they purchased in Mexico. Revas and Madge pickup some runaway reform school boys named Frankie (Robert Arthur) and Switch played by (Steve Rowland). Frankie's girlfriend has gone with them. Her name is Donna and is played by Jan Brooks.  Things go south on the drive and Switch, Frankie, and Donna abscond with the doll full of drugs with Revas and Madge in pursuit. Pursuing all of them is police detective Maddo played by Robert Hutton.  During this time innocent people get killed as Revas stops at nothing to recover the drugs. It ends well wi...

Carol Ohmart stars in the film THE WILD PARTY

After the box office failure of THE SCARLET HOUR, Paramount Pictures loaned Carol Ohmart out to United Artists for a film that was financed and featuring Anthony Quinn. I purchased the "PRESSBOOK" for this film and laughed at the sensationalism used to promote it. Here is a quote from the pressbook, "Have you got the guts to see this picture?" and the other quote, "This movie you see at your own risk." The plot of the movie was to show the harshness of the "Beat Generation' or Beatniks. The film focuses on Quinn's character Tom Kupfen who is an ex-football player and big-shot with women who has gone to seed, can't hold a job, always broke, and living on glory from the high school days. He and his buddies decide to kidnap a wealthy couple played by Carol Ohmart and Arthur Franz as Erika London and Arthur Mitchell, hold them for ransom, and score cash. Now all these friends of Quinn's hang out in smoky Jazz clubs, smoke, drink, and use t...

Carol Ohmart appears in the tv show ROUTE 66 with Lee Marvin.

Image
Carol Ohmart plays a secondary character as the bookkeeper Hanna Martin who is madly in love with the abusive and horrible Lee Marvin character and ends up paying the price. Route 66 featured Martin Milner and George Maharis who drove around working jobs all across America (actual locations) in different cities playing Todd and Buzz who have the coolest convertible corvette of all time. Excellent episode with Lee Marvin being ultra mean and nasty. I wish Carol would have had a bigger part but still she is part of one of the best episodes in the series. Whitney Blake played the lead actress role and she is very pretty in this one.

Carol Ohmart appears in the televsion show CORONADO 9 in the episode called SINGAPORE GIRL

Image
Carol Ohmart played Jeanne in this episode of CORONADO 9 which starred Rod Cameron as a former Naval Investigator who works out of the Coronado Hotel in San Diego, so the show has fantastic shots of the Hotel which was used also in the movie SOME LIKE IT HOT with Marilyn Monroe.     Carol Ohmart steals the show wearing a business suit and also a swimsuit in this episode. She looked amazing. However, once again, she is cast as a villain.
